What We Do
Birmingham FEI Cluster Group is involved in promoting outdoor learning to schools, education advisors, children and young people's organisations and others who are in a position to arrange opportunities for children to benefit from Forest School and developmental play and learning in the outdoors. We attend conferences and organise events to promote Outdoor Learning and Forest Schools. We also regularly arrange taster sessions where you can find out more about Outdoor Learning and Forest School by experiencing a glimpse of it yourself.
The Cluster Group seeks to support outdoor learning and Forest Schools development in Birmingham, advising on best practice, liaising with Regional and National Forest School Networks and with FEI England. We work to secure funding for equipment, clothing and delivery, organise training in accredited Forest School courses and support practitioners in continuing professional development.
The Cluster Group also monitors delivery and the impact of Forest School and of Outdoor Learning through ongoing evaluation and will be reporting on this regularly. The Group's first report - a feasibility study of Forest School in Birmingham is available on CD-ROM full version or as a download (text only) by clicking here.
The Cluster Group also informs members, by regular email, of potential funding opportunities in all areas of outdoor education.
