Forest Schools in Birmingham and Surrounding Areas

Forest School is taking place in Birmingham and its' surrounding areas in a number of different ways.

a) Schools train their own staff to deliver.
Numerous schools throughout the West Midlands have now trained their staff to deliver their own Outdoor Learning and Forest Schools programs.  Although training your teachers would be benefical to any school, we recommend that you consider training one of your support staff who would then be in a position to design and deliver Forest School programs for your school.

b) Employing Independent Forest School Practitioners
Many schools/organisations bring in independent Forest School Leaders and Outdoor Practitioners to deliver programmes to groups of children. These practitioners are specialists and would ensure that your school receives tailor made programs suited to the individual needs of your children/school. These practitioners would also be able to help you to either develop your own grounds or identify a site local to you which would be suitable for your requirements.

c) Taster Programmes
Several schools have taken part in 6-10 week introductory Forest School programmes using local parks and other education sites. These enable you to decide whether Forest School is appropriate for your school before committing to training staff and developing your grounds. The sessions are run either in your own grounds, a nearby Forest School setting or study centre.
